I’ve always said I’d start quilting when I’m older. Nana taught me to sew and I’ve done it all my life, but I didn’t begin quilting until last fall, when I started the first. Using exclusively batik fabrics, I’ve made three more quilts since then, with a fourth almost completed.
Then I discovered Elizabeth DeGroos online and learned about Pojagi, a patchwork technique she studied while living in Korea. She’s adapted this technique to one-layer patchwork and I fell in love with it. In the dark of winter, I reveled in colour and light and I’m obsessed with the beautiful batik fabrics! Friends keep asking for one, so I’m taking commissions for one-of-a-kind stained glass fabric squares and window curtains. Contact me at [email protected] if you’re interested. Here’s a sample of this year’s work.
