For decades I’ve said “I’ll start quilting when I’m older.” Nana taught me to sew and I’ve done complicated construction, but no quilting until last fall, when I started the first – a quilt I’d promised to a friend. Using exclusively batik fabrics, I’ve made three quilts since then, with a fourth almost completed.
Then I discovered Elizabeth DeGroos online and learned about Pojagi, a patchwork technique she studied while living in Korea. She’s adapted this technique to one-layer patchwork. I loved it and in the dark of winter, I reveled in colour and light and even in spring, I can’t seem to stop making these! Friends keep asking for one, so I’m taking commissions for these one-of-a-kind stained glass fabric squares and window curtains. Contact me if you’re interested.
